Most journeys begin with a vision. This one is no different. The vision I had in February of 2012 was spurred by my career path.
I’ve been teaching English abroad for the last six and a half years. Six years is a long time to do something you despise. Living in different countries all over the world has been remarkable. I wouldn’t change a thing that I have done, but the time is ripe for me to harness all the things that I enjoy, dispel the ones I don’t and roll with the best.
The idea behind Globetrekkin’ is to introduce you to the people, places, and activities off the beaten path.
With the American economy still sputtering along, I want to show people alternatives to sitting in front of the T.V. or computer: things to do to get the blood and adrenaline flowing.
The spring/summer 2012 Globetrekkin adventure will be focused on America for the previously mentioned reasons. I’ll be riding my bike across the country stopping at local restaurants, cafes, bed and breakfasts, local homes, and adventure activity providers all across the country.
I will be leaving from Atlantic Beach, North Carolina and headed toward San Diego, California or somewhere on the west coast depending on where you send me (read more below).
Many people have taken a bicycle across the country. I’ll be doing the same but I plan to use social media ie: Facebook, Twitter, G+, Pinterest, the Globetrekkin’ blog, Foursquare, and a few other apps and sites to take recommendations from people of where to eat, sleep, and play. Feel free to use any of these media to contact me and guide me along.
I have no set path. I will be going as the wind blows me (hopefully from the rear) or as people that follow suggest I visit. I would prefer to stay out of big cities, for the most part, but I am not totally against it either. It depends on where you think would be a good place that should be highlighted on the site.
