I have had really incredible run-ins with people along my journey. One couple I met last week in Sapphire, NC really struck a chord with me and helped me out tremendously. I wish them nothing but good times and hope I can reciprocate their generosity one day.
One month down. If you look at it in terms of weeks I was at four weeks on Sunday. In terms of days, today is day 30. I left Atlantic Beach, N.C. on April 16th. Tomorrow is the 16th of May. Whichever one you use, I am now pretty much, officially a month into my inaugural trek. Thanks for all the love and support! Keep it up and I’ll make the Globetrekkin’ name actually synonymous with Bo Bissett trekkin’ the globe!
Day 6 in Sapphire: Now I know why this area is classified as a rain forest. A of yesterday, it had rained four out of the six days I have been here. Of the two days that it did not rain: Thursday it actually did rain in the morning, but was beyond-words, beautiful after lunch and Friday I was sick so it didn’t really matter to me.
I have been fairly restricted since I came to Sapphire, NC. Despite being cold, rained on, and getting sick I have still been able to get out and get my fix of waterfalls in North Carolina. I made some videos of an excursion we did on Thursday. You can check them out on my Youtube Channel or I have posted them below as well.
My fiirst full day in Sapphire, NC was wet and cold. I got in the car with my friend and went to work with here, my bike in the trunk of the car. It was cold and wet that afternoon as I rode back to her house. When she passed me and told me to get in the car, I had no objection. And then…….
I spent the last two immersing myself in the landscape that is Sapphire, NC. Over dinner last night and the subsequent days here I have had more than one person mention to me that there are fairies in the mountains. I’m not one to discount what someone says.
I’m traveling across the country with all of my possessions strapped to a used bike. If someone has a belief, who am I to knock it down and say it’s ridiculous.
Today I am sitting in a cafe in Cashiers, NC. This is the same place I sat yesterday. All day. I would love to get out and explore, but a few things are keeping me inside. The biggest being my arch-nemesis, Mr. Almost Freezing!
There were multiple things flying through my head as I took off on the road yesterday. The first was that I saw a big black bear in my buddy’s back yard. Another was what great time I had in Asheville. The others were the flood of emotions that hit me in one solid wave after another as I made my way up.
